Oftentimes when I glance around my apartment I see that there’s quite a bit of clutter that’s probably not conducive to a happier, healthier mindset when I’m just hanging around the house. But when I get to thinking about it, that’s just a sign of my apartment showing it’s lived in. To me, perfect little houses and “perfect” little lives are actually not perfect at all. Still, I do see things piling up on the kitchen table, on the entryway bench, at the foot of our bed, and even in the basement. And when I see this stuff, I realize all the clutter, the dog hair, and the empty shipping boxes needs cleaned up some. The bad thing is that it’s incredibly easy to let things get out of hand if you don’t stay on top of it. What’s good is you can change that in a hurry if needed, as evidenced by our productive weekend. All it really takes is determination, willpower, and some helpful tools for keeping the place tidy. Most of those tools come in the form of containers, both of which are cheap enough to warrant buying so that you can keep your place nice and tidy. So, let’s look a little bit more in depth about what you can use to organize your thoughts, your days, and your lives. It’s much simpler than you would expect. Label things Whether it’s a nice printed label or sticky notes, it’s always helpful to keep things named and labeled. That way you don’t lose anything or mislocate where something was put. And while they can seem tacky and “extra” at first, it’s a way to mentally train yourself to put things back where they belong, to keep things in places you can easily find, and to just keep other aspects of your life in order. Put things in containers
As I mentioned, supplies like shipping boxes and other plastic bins are perfect for keeping your place in shape. All you need to do is put similar items in these containers and label the box (like mentioned above!) so that you know what goes in there and what doesn’t. We suggest using containers simply so that things don’t get dusty or lost in crooks and crannies within your home.
